Menorca recommendations (english)

Recommendations in Spanish


North coast beaches by car:
  • Algaiarens, road from Ciutadella

  • Es Grau and Sa Mesquida, from Mahón

North coast beaches by car + walking paths:

  • Go to Binimel·la and walk to Cala Pregonda

  • Cala Pilar (you have to walk from the parking lot, which is on the right-hand side of the road between Ferreries and Ciutadella)

  • Es Grau + walk westwards

  • Favaritx Lighthouse (see old photo with friends) + beaches of Arenal del Moro

  • Cape Cavalleria (lighthouse) + cave with views of the cliff + Cavalleria Beach


Favaritx

South coast beaches:

  • Cala Galdana (by car) + walk to:

       - West:Cala Macarella + Macarelleta + Cala en Turqueta (all to the west)

       - East:Cala Mitjana (to the east) – see photo

  • Cales Coves (San Clemente–Cala en Porter road, entering via Son Vitamina)

  • Son Bou (4 km beach + Paleochristian Basilica)



Cala Mitjana 

Prehistoric settlements:

  • Trepucó, near Mahón

  • Naveta d’es Tudons, near Ciutadella

  • Torre d'en Galmés (road to Son Bou)

Others:

  • Binibeca, fishermen’s village

  • Walk through the old town of Ciutadella

  • Organ of Santa Maria Church – Mahón (concerts in summer)

  • Monte Toro, mountain + convent in the center of the island, by car

  • Ports of Mahón, Fornells (fish restaurants), Ciutadella, Cales Fonts (Villacarlos / Es Castell), Addaia

  • Boat trips from Mahón harbor

  • Visit to Illa d’en Colom from Es Grau (by boat – info at the Es Grau bar – or better by kayak from the beach)

  • Pub “Es Cau” in Es Castell–Cala Corb. Traditional Menorcan and Spanish songs

  • Disco (summer only) Sa Cova d’en Xoroi (Cala en Porter)

  • Campsites: Son Bou and Cala Galdana

  • Summer: horse festivals almost every week

  • Hike to the castle on the mountain of Santa Àgueda, between Ferreries and Ciutadella

If you also like hiking, I recommend exploring as much as you can of the Camí de Cavalls. A trail that goes all around the island’s perimeter. Some sections are simply wonderful.

Menorca is a small island, I hope you don’t get lost if you go without GPS.
